Handle With Care (2021)

Handle with Care is created as part of the publication An Anatomy of a Phoenix curated by Yewanda 103.

Handle with Care is a meditation on the cycles of deconstruction and rebuilding, grief and celebration. Unwanted clothing was collected from the community around me, took apart and sewn back together in the form of a patchwork blanket, in which the process was documented as a film alongside the tangible work. The work considers, through an autobiographical lens, the gathering and disassembling when going through de/re-construction, whether as an individual or together as a community. It meditates on the processes of grief, struggles and celebrations. It asks for the audience to be with this act of remembering, reflecting and rebuilding.
